Registrations
Looking for the necessary forms to register your cattle? You’ve come to the right place. Be sure to check out all three forms immediately below.
Artificial Insemination (AI)
Registering AI Calves
UBB members register AI calves very much like any other calves. On the registration application, under the column heading of N, AI OR ET, mark calves produced by artificial insemination with AI. If the breeder of the calf to be registered is not a registered owner of the AI sire, the breeder pays an additional $5 per calf AI administrative fee. If the breeder of the calf is a registered owner of the AI sire, no AI administrative fee is due.
AI Sire Permits
Before out-of-herd AI calves can be registered, the AI sire must be AI permitted. The owner(s) of the AI sire must complete, sign and submit the below form and pay the AI permit fee. A DNA sample and sample submission form (link below) must also be submitted to the UBB. The lab will process the DNA and notify the UBB office that an acceptable DNA profile is on file. The AI permit fee includes the cost of the DNA work. Once the UBB office receives the completed AI permit application, the AI permit fee and a DNA profile from the DNA lab, the AI permit will be issued and out-of-herd AI calves can be registered immediately.
Embryo Transfer (ET)
Donor Dam Permits
Before ET calves can be registered, the donor dam must be ET permitted. The owner(s) of the ET Donor Dam must complete, sign and submit a simple permit form and pay the ET permit fee. A DNA sample and submission form must also be submitted to the UBB’s Kingsville office. Once the UBB office receives the completed ET permit application, the ET permit fee and a DNA profile, the ET permit will be issued ET calves can be registered immediately.
DNA Samples
AI & ET Permits and Parental Validation
- Neogen handles DNA profiling of animals for AI and ET permits and parentage verification. Breeders are to submit samples directly to the UBB utilizing the submission form below.
100K Genomic Testing
The UBB is now offering genomically enhanced EPDs. The 100K test runs $45 per animal and includes the parentage verification.
External Animals
Enrolling registered Brahman, Hereford, Angus & Red Angus Animals
When you’re bringing in new genetics, whether they’re Hereford, Brahman, Angus, or Red Angus, you must enroll those external animals with the UBB (a one-time cost of $10/head). When you enroll a external animal, the five-generation pedigree is stored in the database and the animal is then given a UBB registration number, which you will use at the time of registration for any progeny. By enrolling your foreign animals prior to registering offspring, you’re able to expedite the registration process.
